About the therapy
The air of a salt cave
Halotherapy, from the Greek halos for salt, recreates the dry, salty air of natural salt caves. Interest in it began with the observation that people who worked in European salt mines seemed to breathe more easily.
In our salt room, a halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical-grade salt into very fine particles and disperses them into the air. As you breathe normally, the particles reach your airways and settle lightly on your skin.
There is nothing to do but rest. You may sit back in one of the teak chairs, read, meditate or close your eyes.
Why guests choose it
What people use it for
Responses vary from person to person. These are the reasons guests most often give for adding salt therapy to their program.
Easier breathing
Many guests with congestion, sinus discomfort or seasonal allergies find their airways feel clearer.
After travel
A restful way to recover from long flights, air conditioning and city pollution.
Skin
Salt resting on the skin is a traditional choice for dry or irritated skin.
Calm
A cool, quiet room and forty minutes without a screen help the nervous system settle.
Sleep
Some guests sleep more deeply on the days they visit the salt room.
Shared or solitary
Come alone for stillness, or with family and friends. The room holds up to seven.
